We Walk the Line is a social enterprise that empowers tomorrow’s entrepreneurs, by providing the skills they need to sell great tasting artisanal coffee as their own boss.
The social enterprise provides employment and training opportunities for young people who need a break, or disadvantaged individuals who need a second chance.
As recent finalists of Ben and Jerry’s – Ashoka Join Our Core social enterprise competition We Walk The Line are being supported by the ice cream company to promote its Kickstarter Campaign and on May 28, for the launch of the campaign, at Dalston Roof Park We Walk The Line provided delicious ice cream and espresso delights, to everyone who attended the event.
The aim of the Kickstarter campaign is to raise awareness and funds for the social enteprise to pilot their employment and training model, called Coffee with a Conscience.
If the campaign is successful the pilot will help We Walk The Line further develop their business model and in the longer term help more people develop their enterprise and barista skills. Once trainees have completed the programme it is hoped that they will be able to secure their own location and coffee cart, working for themselves as their own boss.
Speaking about what the social enterprise hopes to achieve through the campaign Kieron Tilley, cofounder of We Walk The Line, said: “We want to empower those that need a chance to come onto our programme and help them get to a position where they are working for themselves.”
Talking about the perks offered to people who support the Kickstarter campaign, he stated: “We have some fun giveaways for the Kickstarter campaign. Obviously we have coffees as a reward or you can splash out on a slightly bigger pledge and get a We Walk the Line mug or We Walk the Line fitted T shirt and if you are feeling really flush then do pledge to come along and pedal grind your own coffee to go!”
The Kickstarter campaign will run until the end of June. To find out more or to make a pledge visit We Walk The Line’s Kickstarter page
